We have searched the US and Canada to find the perfect GSP's to add to our family. Some of the things we look at are: conformation, bloodlines / pedigree, hunting ability/desire and temperment. Our goal is to produce smart, loving, loyal, calm & good looking puppies that will hunt all day long or happily sit on the couch next to their owner. Gradually over the years we have incorporated better and better dogs & pedigrees into our breeding program. Now over 2/3 of our Shorthair's are sired by a titled dog. Below and on 'Our GSP page 2' you will find most of our shorthairs.

A German Shorthaired Pointer is a hardy dog who makes a great companion in the field or the home.

The German Shorthaired Pointer needs exercise, which makes him better suited for families who live in the country.

The German Shorthaired Pointer is an affectionate breed who loves his home and family.

Breed Standard ~ excerpt from AKC website.

General Appearance

The German Shorthaired Pointer is a versatile hunter, an all-purpose gun dog capable of high performance in field and water. The judgement of Shorthairs in the show ring reflects this basic characteristic. The overall picture which is created in the observer's eye is that of an aristocratic, well balanced, symmetrical animal with conformation indicating power, endurance and agility and a look of intelligence and animation. The dog is neither unduly small nor conspicuously large. It gives the impression of medium size, but is like the proper hunter, "with a short back, but standing over plenty of ground." Symmetry and field quality are most essential. A dog in hard and lean field condition is not to be penalized; however, overly fat or poorly muscled dogs are to be penalized. A dog well balanced in all points is preferable to one with outstanding good qualities and defects. Grace of outline, clean-cut head, sloping shoulders, deep chest, powerful back, strong quarters, good bone composition, adequate muscle, well carried tail and taut coat produce a look of nobility and indicate a heritage of purposefully conducted breeding. Further evidence of this heritage is movement which is balanced, alertly coordinated and without wasted motion.

Size, Proportion, Substance

Size--height of dogs, measured at the withers, 23 to 25 inches. Height of bitches, measured at the withers, 21 to 23 inches. Deviations of one inch above or below the described heights are to be severely penalized. Weight of dogs 55 to 70 pounds. Weight of bitches 45 to 60 pounds. Proportion--measuring from the forechest to the rearmost projection of the rump and from the withers to the ground, the Shorthair is permissibly either square or slightly longer than he is tall. Substance--thin and fine bones are by no means desirable in a dog which must possess strength and be able to work over any type of terrain. The main importance is not laid so much on the size of bone, but rather on the bone being in proper proportion to the body. Bone structure too heavy or too light is a fault. Tall and leggy dogs, dogs which are ponderous because of excess substance, are to be faulted.

Accepted colors are : Liver roan, white and liver , solid liver and the rare black and black and whites.

Wind River's Sweet Maggie JH

Maggie is a gorgeous solid liver adult female weighing about 75 lbs. She holds an AKC Junior Hunter title, is OFA certified, is  Star & Zeus's dam & Geneveive's grand dam. Her pedigree is exceptional with almost every dog in 5 generations being titled. Her dam  was the AKC Hunt Test Dam of the Year in 2002 & 2005. She is our biggest & strongest female and is a good hunter and family dog. She has a great temperment and is eager to please. We are lucky to have her as part of our family.

CH Waystar's Speckled Egg

Tigger is our liver & white AKC show champion stud. He is a big, (85 lbs of pure muscle), handsome boy and is an exceptional example of a German Shorthaired Pointer. He won his championship by the age of 2 and is now being trained to compete in AKC hunt tests. He loves to hunt and we expect him to attain a title quickly once started.  Most of the time he acts like a big goofy puppy and hops up and down when excited to see us.  Tigger is OFA certified and is available for stud to a limited number of approved outside females.. Females that are titled are preferred and must have proper health clearances. (OFA, etc)

Zeus

Zeus is out of our Maggie ( Wind River's Black Magic MH x CH Sweetgrass-Trek Mountain Man MH) and Wind River's Shake, Rad and Roll MH ( Wind River's Hide-N-Seek MH x Rex Vom Pottsiepen JH) and full brother to Star. He has had some professional training and is terrific in the field.  He recently sired 2 litters of gorgeous puppies for us. He is a stout boy weighing in around 75 lbs.

Clark Fork's Jasmine

Jazzy is our white & liver ticked young adult female. She is sired by FC AFC NFC Dunfur's Where You Ben and she has a ton of Moesgaard lines and her pedigree is also impressive. She is an excellent bird dog and loves to hunt. She is calm inside but once she goes out in the field she is all business. She will be an important part of our breeding program and hopefully her puppies will inherit her calm temperment and great hunting instincts.
